The remaining ploughshare tortoises in the wild and the ones in accredited institutions are being branded to try and keep them out of the illegal wildlife trade.

I suppose this is a more effective deterrent than the current only CITES regulations on ploughshares. It does however seem that the recent and regular high profile confiscations have made some impact!

Just still a lot of work to do with individuals regularly appearing in S.E. Asia ..
