Looking at some poor enclosures in the galleries and hearing about very expensive plans to replace them made me think about Mercedes and the enclosure she has at the Highland Wildlife Park.
Does anyone think that this will set a new trend in enclosure design?
In my view, a modified ungulate paddock with a large body of water could serve a polar bear and the viewing public equally well and would be far less expensive than some of the planned developments.
I should add that it could still be beautifully landscaped to provide an immersion experience, it doesn't have to be unattractive.
