I'm not sure if this has been done yet, but I plan on creating polls on movies, series, video games, and other stuff. So I decided to start with one of the most popular movies franchises in history: Star Wars. I'm sticking strictly to the films here. Might do a separate one for the series. Unfortunately, I can only include up to 10 options, so I had to exclude two. I ended up leaving out The Clone Wars and Solo. If one of those was your top pick, I apologize, but there wasn't much I could do.

As a kid I used to have an irrational fear towards Star Wars until I saw JarJar Binks from The Phantom Menace. I owe it to that film for getting rid of my fears.

That's weird. It's the reverse for most people.

Ah, but once you've survived that, you can cope with anything. :D

The Empire Strikes Back. I love A New Hope, Empire and Jedi (the 'original' trilogy), can barely get through the Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith prequels, and was surprised at how much I enjoyed Force Awakens, Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker.

My 4 kids adore the newest trilogy by far, which I find fascinating. They love Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren and the newer characters and modern special effects.

Gotta go with Return of the Jedi. It's an immensely satisfying conclusion to the original trilogy and ever since I was a kid I always liked Jabba the Hutt for whatever reason. I get why many people view it as the weakest of the first three, but I've always loved it.

I actually much prefer the sequel trilogy over the first two prequels. The worst thing you can be as a movie is boring and for all of the bizarre writing and plot convinces, they are fun to watch even if it's not for the right reasons (although I maintain Force Awakens is pretty solid by itself). Phantom Menace at least has the excellent duel with Darth Maul at the end, but Attack of the Clones in particular is such a snooze fest.

I'm finding myself agreeing here. Return of the Jedi is my favorite because it so perfectly wraps up everything from the first two (of course also excellent) films. Plus Jabba's Palace and Endor's Moon are just such fun locations to spend time in.

I cannot stand The Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones. They're just so boring. On the other end, I love watching through Revenge of the Sith. Not because it's it's a good movie, but because I love how I feel like Rick Dalton pointing out a meme every five seconds. There's so many points in that movie that are unintentionally funny.

Overall I do prefer the sequels to the prequels. I stand by my opinion that The Force Awakens is just straight-up a good movie. I like The Last Jedi, too. The Finn and Rose plotline drags, sure, but the rest of that movie is really good. That being said, I have no praise whatsoever for The Rise of Skywalker.

Outside the main saga, I really like Rouge One. Solo is a perfectly okay movie but totally unnecessary. The Clone Wars (movie, not the show) is not good. I've never seen the Ewok movies. The Holiday Special is unintentionally hilarious. A few of the Lego Star Wars movies are surprisingly solid, though.

What does everyone think of the TV series? The Clone Wars is probably the best Star Wars content outside of the Original Trilogy to be honest. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I also love the first two season of The Mandalorian.

I grew up with the original Trilogy. I live in the Netherlands, my local comic book store arragened a bustrip to London for the premiere of the Phantom Mennace (with premiered months earlier in the UK) and i was a little dissapointed to say the least...What is funny is that i've some younger friends who grew up with the prequels , who will swear by those movies. My nephews adore the mandalorian and the animated shows. So it's a generational thing i guess.....

My top 3 Star Wars movies/shows

1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Rogue one
3. Andor

A series poll is up next. Might even do a Star Wars video game one. We have some classics like the Force Unleashed and the old Battlefront games up against more recent heavy hitters like Fallen Order/Jedi Survivor and the Battlefront reboots.

I don't wanna hear anymore about the sequel trilogy. Disney turned against me, don't you turn against me!

I love the original six movies - period, point blank, I just love them. I give the award to Return of the Jedi because it's the one I rewatched most often as a kid but my feelings for all six are fairly equal, regardless if some have more strengths and others more weaknesses.

It's a lot harder in my mind to generalize the other three films, which for all of the strengths and weaknesses of each individual film I think few would say all three compliment one another at once. I find The Rise of Skywalker the most entertaining of the three.

Across all three trilogies, and frankly most movie franchises I like, the resolution/conclusion films usually have a strong appeal to me, even when they are not well executed, because conclusion gives me some inherent catharsis.

You really think it's worse than the prequels? I sure don't.
They don't have to be mutually exclusive. I know people who hate both trilogies with equal passion and I've even met people who think Return of the Jedi ruins the original trilogy, usually by arguing Darth Vader being redeemable ruined Star Wars to begin with.

My individual preference is the prequels over sequels but I try to resist the bash cycle and avoid contributing to the toxicity. I can always find good in even what most consider bottom barrel Star Wars.

Just messing around as all; the prequels are just very quotable for me. As for which trilogy I prefer; yes, I would say that I enjoy the prequels more than the sequels. I don't want to dismiss the Disney films entirely, though - they're entertaining in their own right, which is kinda the point for most movies. However, I felt that the sequels didn't quite do justice to the emotional conclusion of Return of the Jedi, especially the last film. For me, nothing beats Darth Vader's redemption in the original trilogy, and yet The Rise of Skywalker seemed to undermine that. And despite their flaws, I believe the prequels actually enhanced the original trilogy by intensifying the emotional impact of Anakin's redemption. But ultimately, it's just a matter of personal preference. I have no problem with someone enjoying and preferring the sequels.

I'm with you on the original six. It's almost impossible for me to rank them as I love each film for what they are. I chose Revenge of the Sith for mostly the same reason you chose Return of the Jedi.

I want to start this off by showing my age (or lack thereof, lol). The first Star Wars movie I ever watched was The Force Awakens. I was in middle school at the time, and over Christmas break my dad took me to the movie theaters to see it. After that, I asked for and received the first six movies as a set of Blu-Ray discs for my birthday, and then watched those in release order.

I think when it comes to the prequels there is a generational divide in how people view them. For most people in my generation, IV-VI have no more nostalgia as I-III do. When talking in person with people my own age, by far the most popular opinion I encounter is enjoying I-VI, and not liking episodes VIII and IX. I can understand why those who grew up on IV-VI ended up disliking, and sometimes even hating I-III, it's honestly a very similar phenomenon to the many people of my generation (myself included) that love I-VI, but ended up disliking VIII and IX.

I will say that on a first watch-through I preferred the prequels to the original trilogy, although that has more to do with the technology and special effects, plus the really cool lightsaber duels, than it does the overall story. Perhaps my favorite scene in any Star Wars movie is the pod race with Anakin in Episode I. However, while I still hold a favorable view of the prequel trilogy, as I've matured I've enjoyed the original trilogy more and more, especially episodes IV and VI. Despite being older movies, and as such having worst technological capabilities and a slower pace than the prequels, the stories told in the original trilogy are definitely the best of any of the Skywalker Saga.
