A few changes. The fosa by the cheetahs died on Tuesday aged 18. The clouded lep by the safari pick up has been moved off show to an enclosure behind the lynx and serval. A strange move and disappointing as this species can't be viewed now at port lymp and there are 3 closeures on show to the public housing servals so a strange one .The clouded lep enclosure has the 17 year old male amur lep now. The lep creek enclosure has 1 new male sirlanken lep.

Shame about the Fossa, on the other hand, any idea where the Sri Lankan Leopard came from?
 
I'd suggest you correct the spelling of the zoos name in the title of the thread?

The place seems to be managed to phase out and extinction....
(High time that DA gets to fall of his high horse....)
 
That leaves them with 1 fossa transferred from Chester last year

when I went a few weeks ago the Pallas cats was mixed with hope to breed

I was also told it’s 2 Sri Lankan leopards 2 brothers from pdf
 
i had keeper expierence. feeding the amur lep. was told only 1 male sirlanken lep by the keepers and only saw one as i stayed at lep creek too. hope to bring in a female later
 
When did pasha.the tiger leave port lymp . I'm sure he was there last wed the 19th also was he at the top of the park or down the bottom
 
cheers but can any one remember which encloseure pasha was in at port lymp please as i forgotten

On September 1st, it was mentioned that the zoo transferred a (1.0) fossa to Prague Zoo in Czechia on July 9th*.

On December 22nd, the zoo announced various births between 2023/2024 including a (0.1) western lowland gorilla named Kafale (born on May 18th, 2023)**, Bolivian squirrel monkey, common hog deer, and forest buffalo, among other species.

On December 24th, it was mentioned that the zoo acquired 2 gelada baboons from Colchester Zoo in Essex on February 14th***.

In January 2025****, it was announced that the zoo would transfer a (0.1) serval named Sabra to Dartmoor Zoo in Devon in the future.

On March 12th, the zoo officially announced that (1.1) fossas named Ikongo (age 18) and Sambava (age not specified) passed away both due to a decline in health and mobility issues.

Does Port Lympne have anymore Fossas on site or have they gone? Also, when did PL add Geladas?
 
Sad news to start the day

Remembering WanMei

Sadly, on Tuesday the 8th April, 2025, said goodbye to our elderly female red panda, WanMei.

WanMei’s health began to deteriorate throughout the spring. Despite veterinary aid and round the clock care, WanMei’s condition did not improve and the ever-difficult decision was made to euthanise her.

Born in 2011, Wan Mei had nearly reached an impressive 14 years of age. During this time, she spent 12 years of her life at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve. She successfully delivered and reared three litters of offspring with her old partner, Tian-Ming.

Usually, WanMei could be spotted sleeping right at the top of the tree canopies in her enclosure. When she wasn’t napping, WanMei always showed us her best happy face when she was eating some pear, one of her absolute favourites. Red Panda Encounter guests will remember WanMei in her later years, where she would climb down and pick only her favourite snacks from the plant pots guests had laid out – bamboo was ALWAYS the first thing to be picked, even if pear was on offer!

WanMei was a real character who made a wonderful impact those who were lucky enough to meet her on an encounter and the keepers who worked with her every day. She will always be remembered here at Port Lympne.
 
I had a visit for the first time in about 8 years on Saturday, and I discovered that in this week:
  • A rhino is leaving this week to another zoo
  • another one is being put down
