Private Zoo Licence?

Hi, I am looking for information mainly and if people have relevant experience.
I would love to have the following for personal not public.
1 - Wallaby
2 - Asian Water Monitor or Ackie Monitor if Asian Water Monitor is impossible.
Could this be possible if I were to get a private zoo licence or would I need a specific permit for the monitor?
Also I would love to bring over a Harlequin Macaw from Sydney but MPI says you cannot import birds, is there anything that could help this?
Many Thanks

Would love to hear these requirements too. In some years time when I have suitable property I'd love to have an almost 'community' display. I'd like to have some exotic reptiles(no crocs or snakes or anything too crazy) and then some mildly exotic hoof-stock or waterfowl, maybe some Mara or something? Equally I love our natives and understand this may never be feasible for myself.

You would need to contact MPI regarding what you need for zoo licences - but you 100% aren't going to be able to call yourself a "private zoo" and get permits for animals just because you want some pets.

Under current legislation you cannot import either of those monitors. You cannot import macaws either.

You can keep a wallaby though, with a permit (because they are pest species), and it needs to be de-sexed.
