Colorado's high country is a land of awe-inspiring vistas, mature old-growth forests, vital wildlife habitat and crucial migration corridors. Bears, elk, mule deer — even Canada lynx, threatened with extinction — all call this place home. But without protections these spectacular public lands are vulnerable to destructive fracking and mining.

Fortunately the Biden administration has proposed a 20-year ban on fossil fuel fracking and hardrock mining on nearly a quarter-million acres in the Thompson Divide and around Mt. Emmons, aka Red Lady.

Comments from the public are being accepted on the proposed ban, called a “mineral withdrawal” — and that's where you come in.
