I've thinking for a while now of an thread idea, and I've know stuck up the courage to share this thread to the rest of the community and to share opinions and informations (also wanted to release in the 15th of december so it could be admited in the thread of the year contest if I ever reach that far:p).
Firstly, I want to talk about what the thread consists. In this thread, the creator (me) while ask questions oo facts about mammals and the commenter (that's you) while have to share the idea if the want to and share there opinion. It will be a daily upload* with different questions each day. Also, just to make it more fun I've imagined "special" posts: Bonus . In the bonus posts there would be two question/facts/both per post. Also in the post there will be hint on the next post topic.
Secondly, be nice to others and respect there opinion. If there's any misinformation, yo can correct that person but you should do it in a nice way. No off-topic posts are allowed and they will be reported if there posted.
Also, this thread is very much inspired on the fantastic thread of @snowleopard but it's not the same. While I thought of adding reptiles and birds, I don't have the suficient knowledge for those groups so I let them out to not cause any misinformation.
And with that I hope that you enjoy this thread and I'll post in a few minutes the first question!:)
*If I can't post on a specific day, I will try to make a bonus question the next day.

#1 ¿What's you're favourite species of elephant and why?
For me, my favourite species of elephant is th asian elephant. This choice is influenced a lot by the fact that when I lived at spain mostly every zoo had african elephants while in Madrid zoo they had asian, and in fact a rare sub-species, but I learnt that recently, so I've become more attached to the animal. Also, is it me, or do asian elephants seem like more docile than there african cousins?African forest elephants could also be my favourite, but let's be honest, I'm never going to see one. Here's a magnificent photo of a heard of asian elephants by @DesertTortoise

Hint: On tomorrow's post, we will talk about how wave machines affect a specific group of mammals...

My favorite elephants are Asian Elephants due to their docility and appearance. I've seen both Asian and African elephants though with African Elephants being in one of my home zoos (Roger Williams)

Hi everyone! After thinking It for a while, I don't intend to continue with this thread as it function. Instead of it's original purpose, this thread will be about asking questions for mammals and sharing information, news and facts abou them. Everyone is invited to ask and share, and I'll try to answer as much questions as possible. Thanks!

Elephants are actually my favourite animal overall.

The first picture taken of me at the zoo had Koala, my local park's elderly Asian elephant, in the background. My first African elephant was the sadly deceased Terezita, from São Paulo. I saw her in 2011 and she was huge!

So, my favourite species of elephant is the African bush elephant, as it is bigger and both sexes have exposed ivory tusks. I am also really fond of Jamba, the bull in Belo Horizonte and the largest living mammal in Brazil.

To my knowledge, Asian elephants are just as common as African ellies in Spain. Both Madrids, Benidorm and Estepona have the species, while African ellies are at four of the major zoos (Barcelona, Valencia, Cabárceno and La Lajita)

Also, this is my 1000th post!

Hi Enzo! To response to your post, I had never been at Benidorm when I lived in Spain and to this day I haven't visited it yet, but I did went to Selwo Aventura at Estepona, and totally forgot about the place, but even then, I remember seeing only one juvenile elephant at the paddock, so it wasn't as memorable as seeing the herds at Cabarceno or Valencia. Thanks for the post!
