Qualifications to become a zookeeper DMZAA?

Hi so I am attempting a career change to become a zookeeper.
I have 2 qualifications I am looking at ,
Btec Extended Diploma in Animal Management

Or the DMZAA
Which one is more favourable?
The first involves me attending college , the second is distance learning but I'm unsure which is better . Going back to university at the moment isn't an option for me.

What do those hiring in the UK tend to look for?

Many thanks

DMZAA is designed for people already working in the zoo and aquarium community in a paid Keeper or Aquarist role. There is also a CMZAAV course at Sparsholt for volunteers within the zoo community.

You'd be better off on a stand-alone separate course and getting as much experience voluntarily as possible, as practical experience and ability to do the job is key.

I forgot to mention, I already volunteer at a wildlife park So it would be a CMZAA until I can top it up if that's the route I chose

Does the wildlife park where you volunteer have a education department,? I'm sure they would be able to advise you on this matter

Unfortunately not, they are quite small. I'm finding it hard to get any info on the matter, that's why I am asking here to see if anyone knows more . I don't want to choose the wrong one when the other would be better
