Ranger Rick magazine stories

This might be a bit obscure, but how many of you read Ranger Rick and enjoyed the stories? I never had a subscription but loved reading the magazine in the library. The stories were my favorite part. My favorite character was Ollie Otter. The stories were always so interesting and it was from one that I learned ocelots lived in Texas. I always wanted to see a cartoon made of this.

This is sort of piggybacking off the Zoobooks thread. Curious about other thoughts. Just being nostalgic with a bout if insomnia.

Ranger Rick now owns Zoobooks. I was a zoobooks kid, Ranger Rick was something I always saw in waiting rooms (especially at the vet). My current vet still has some copies lying about that are older than I am :D
It seems like my elementary teachers had quite a few of those but not many Zoobooks.

I never had a subscription but my 3 and 4 grade classrooms had them and I read them quite a lot.

I had a subscription to this magazine, actually for much longer than I had my Zoobooks subscription. My favorite part was always the stories too, which at least while I was reading the magazine, were always told in comic form. It was really entertaining to watch Rick and his friends go on adventures and learn about different animals and environmental issues. In the last year of my subscription, I remember being disappointed when they changed the art style from a 3D CGI-like appearance to a much more simplified 2D one.

I had a subscription. All sold now which is OK because I made some money from selling them!

I just remember the old school drawings. Which characters were your favorite?

Boomer Badger could be pretty entertaining, he was clearly meant to be the character for the readers to relate to because displayed a child-like naïveté and immaturity, and was typically the one who had to learn lessons about being more environmentally responsible, etc.

Scarlett Fox was fun too. I liked how the Southern accent came out in the writing.
