Red River Zoo Red River Zoo news

Died off? Released? Transferred to another facility?

It's not like they're anything special, white-tailed deer are the most common species of deer in North America. I'd wonder why zoos within their native range even bother with displaying them if not for the good PR that they doubtlessly get by providing homes for rehab individuals.
I know, I know ... regarding the status of most white-tailed deer in North America.

Having said that ... However, it will / would not hurt an inch to exhibit the local native subspecies of white-tailed deers that is local to Dakota ways...! The Red River Zoo is not that huge and does have some acres to spare and does not have a huge animal collection anyways!

POST SCRIPTUM: What I love about Red River Zoo is their choice of species and the nicely spread out exclosures across the zoo imprint / area.

I mean, they don't have much to gain by continuing to exhibit White-tails either, lol. Przewalski’s horses are undeniable an upgrade over the local variety of deer when it comes to actually attracting visitors.
