Reminder: do not start 2021 news threads without content

It's that time of year again and people are keen to start new news threads with 2021 content.

We do have strict rules about creating new threads for a new year:

1. do not create new year-based news threads until after the 1st of January
   • 2nd of January would be better - people in Hawaii are almost a full day behind people in NZ, so best to wait until it is the new year for everyone
2. do not create new threads without meaningful content
   • Don't post until you actually have some news
   • Also, don't go hunting for the smallest bit of trivia about a zoo just so you can start a new thread!

To be clear:

• Any thread news started for 2021 before Jan 1st will be deleted
• Any thread started without meaningful content will be deleted

If you are at all unsure - just post in the 2020 thread and the moderators will split any 2021 content off into a new thread if and when we deem appropriate.

It is generally best to continue discussions about a specific topic in the year in which that discussion started - wait until there is new information before posting in a new thread.
