Today I paid a visit to Iguana - a reptilian-house ( in fact 3 housed conected with each other ) with a nice collection of reptilians, amphibians and invertebrates. It's in the south-western province of Zeeland in the city of Vlissingen.
In the raising-room lots of eggs and also a few young :
1 spider tortoise
1 star tortoise
1 frilled lizard
1 tockeh gecko
1 warrens girzel-tailed lizard
and also some bearded dragons and some common snake-species.
In the incubators more eggs of spider tortoises ( I counded 3 ), star tortoises (5 ) and also from Radiated tortoises ( 27 counted ), pancake tortoises ( 8 seen ) among others.
Hope to re-visit the collection soon to see what happened with the eggs.

Today agian been at Iguana and some news :
2 monkey-tailed skinks born and housed together with the adults ( with this species this is possible )
one baby Radiated tortoise one display ( hatched 10 March 2013 )
green iguana one hatched on 7 January 2013

Yesterday 3 Warren's girdledtailed lizards were born at Iguana . These young belong already to the third generation born at Iguana.
The "grandmom"was born 1991 at Ouwehands dierenpark and the "granddad" 1993 at Artis - Amsterdam.
A female of this species lived 34 years at Iguana and was prop. 42 years old when she died !

Gisteren hebben we de geboorte van 3 gordelstaart hagedissen gevierd (cordylus warenii). Het is inmiddels de 3e generatie hiervan die in Iguana is geboren.
De Oma van de baby's is in 1991 geboren in Ouwehands Dierenpark (Rhenen), en hun Opa kwam 2 jaar later ter wereld (1993) in Artis te Amsterdam.
Er heeft een vrouwtje van deze soort 34 jaar in Iguana geleefd en deze was naar schatting 42 jaar toen ze stierf.

Visited Iguana yesterday and a few changes had taken place after my last visit last year :
In the Cellar a row of small tanks for Poison-dart frogs have been removed and a new enclosure for Adanson's mud turtes have been build on this spot ( see Cellar - new Adanson's mud turtle-enclosure | ZooChat, Cellar - new Adanson's mud turtle | ZooChat and Cellar- new Adanson's mud turtle | ZooChat ).
A large enclosure which housed last year a group of Green iguanas, is now home for a single Red tegu ( at least I saw a single one ) ( see Red tegu-enclosure - former Green iguana-enclosure | ZooChat ).

During September a Snapping turtle was found on the beach of Vlissingen. Because Snapping turtles don't do well in saltwater, the animal was in a very bad condition and was brought to Iguana. Here Henk - how he was called - was placed into the quarantaine and now he has been placed - with other Snapping turtles - on public display :

Yesterday a female Warren's girdled lizard gave bith to no less then 6 young at Iguana Reptile Zoo !
Saw this female less then a month ago myself and she was realy very big :

The zoo has received a juvenile sea turtle, that washed ashore at Westkapelle (Province of Zeeland). Hopefully the turtle can make a full recovery and will eventually be released near Mexico. Not sure which species it is, could it be a Leatherback Sea Turtle?

According to the Zeeland newspaper PZC it is a Kemp's Ridley sea turtle.
