On April 1 ( not a joke ) a new zoo will open at the small village of Erdosmecske'
A Belgium couple has build on 2 hectare a small zoo with mainly small animals ( mammals, birds and reptilians ).
It's the 14th zoo in Hongary with an officiall licence.

As of last year, the zoo (now known as Mecske ZOO instead of RepZootic) is the only holder outside Africa of the side-striped jackal (Lupulella adusta). In 2024, a group of seven animals arrived from a private holder in the Netherlands (next to Dierenpark ZiE-ZOO).
