REQUEST: Zoo Fanatics

Hi all,

I'm a journalist writing a piece about (you guessed it) zoos. I'm looking for a person or group of people who have travelled the UK visiting different zoos and wildlife parks for a quick 10 minute chat about why they love them so much, nothing too taxing.

If you fit the bill, feel free to drop me a PM or reply below.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I'm new around here.

Thanks!

Hello andyb and welcome to zoochat.
A suggestion for you may be to arrange a time and date and make use of the site's chatroom.
Usually a few bodies to be found in there.

Excuse my paranoia (I've had a friend stitched up by a newspaper before) but I'd advise anyone helping this guy to ask him about the newspaper he writes for and consider the likely tone of the piece (maybe ask him) before assisting. Ideally get permission to review any article to avoid you being misquoted/misunderstood/misrepresented/took out of context and looking like a nutter. Remember anyone talking to this person is effectively representing us all.

Apologies to AndyB, but if you're a quality journalist I'm sure you'll appreciate there's natural wariness of some of the less scrupulous people that share your profession.

It seems our reputation precedes us. No offence taken, but I'm genuinely interested in what people have to say and a big zoo man myself. Definitely not looking to stitch anybody up here.

Thanks for your help, everybody.

I strongly support this warning.
AndyB may be great on zoos but he has editors.
The press works for their financial interests not yours and not to promote zoos for the love of them. Believe nothing you are told.
Think before you speak is my advice.

And remember, AndyB may not realize that many many zoochatters are children.

Hi,

Appreciate your concern but just to clarify I'm a student journalist and write what I'd like to write, not what I'm commissioned to.

Hope that puts some of your worries to rest!

Hi andyb,

I see it's almost 2 months since the last post in this thread. Was wondering what happened and how you got on?
