RFI: Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Hi all,

I’m planning a trip to Costa Rica this December and am especially keen on finding some of the rarer mammals in the region.

I’ll be spending around three days in Rio Perdido, four days in Tamarindo, and around a week in Manuel Antonio. I plan to spend at least half of the time in Guanacaste with my family, but I’ll also have opportunities to head out with a guide — especially for nocturnal species.

If anyone has recommendations for local guides or naturalists in Guanacaste with experience in the more elusive species — particularly those who know good nocturnal mammal spots — I’d be very grateful for your advice.

Thanks so much,
