yer foz is right, if you open a new zoo in england your almost garenteed to have bennets wallabys and ring tailed lemurs!

that is true, I've found out that there are over 40 zoos in the UK and Ireland that house ring-tailed lemurs, quite shocking the variety of enclosures they are held in from naturalistic woodlands to tiny glass fronted, wire mesh barren enclosure.

Thank you for your help, look slike an interesting forum will have to have a closer look when I've written my thesis.

I would like to be interested in ring-tailed lemurs in mixed species exhibits. What kind of other species are keeping with ring-tailed lemurs and what size are this mixed species exhibits?
Probably has anybody got any infos about problems with ring-tailed lemurs in mixed species exhibits?

A lot of zoos mix lemur species in walk throughs, for example Bristol kept them with red ruffeds and then mongoose lemurs. I think Cotswolds wildlife park maybe keeps them with red footed tortoises too (?), aswell as another lemur species.

Hi,

Two out of the three zoos I have been studying at have ring-tailed lemurs in mixed species exhibits. One zoo they were in with a pari of mongoose lemurs, only recently been introduced, but there did seem to be some tension between the two. The other zoo had them in with white fronted brown lemurs, red fronted lemurs and black and white ruffed lemurs this exhibit is a 4 acre woodland with 8 sheds in it so plenty of room to be away from other species. I only observed a little bit of tension, normally around feeding time.

Hope this helps.

Ah yeah, they told me last time I visited. And the red ruffeds are now on the island formally inhabited by another ringtailed group.
