I was also reading an article from 2004 about how the LA zoo also couldn't get pandas, so China decided that they will give us golden monkeys instead. I need to look for the article though. I think that's the reason why the LA zoo might not be doing it's Asian Temperate Forest set of exhibits by the Golden Monkeys.
