I am not sure where else to put this thread, but considering he didn't work in zoos but worked in field conservation on biological surveys, this was my default section to post this thread.

I have some upsetting and devastating news to report. Dr. Phil Rosen who was a wildlife ecologist, conservation biologist, passionate herpetologist, and personal friend of mine passed away last night. Though this was on one occasion, I feel blessed to have joined him on a field survey driving with him along the dried bed of the Santa Cruz river here in Pima County, Arizona. Last time we saw each other was at an event at Hotel Congress in downtown Tucson called Drink Beer Save Turtles which was an after party event in August of 2019 for the Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) conference which was held in Tucson at that time. Wildlife conservation in Arizona lost a great figure. Dr. Rosen was also a research scientist at the University of Arizona and the authored a book on the herptofauna in Sabino Canyon, which I have in my collection.

Phil will be greatly missed.

Rest in Peace,
Phil Rosen

Very sad to hear this and sorry for your loss.

Really sorry for your loss, and the loss for the conservation community as a whole. He seemed like an incredible man with incredible talent.

The conservation community has indeed lost another iconic individual.

I am sorry for your personal loss.

The Tucson Herpetological Society recorded his memorial service via zoom which you can watch here. I still miss Phil Rosen greatly...
