Saint Louis Zoo Saint Louis Zoo News 2016

Phew! After a year's delay, photos of the completed Polar Bear Point have finally been posted! Sorry for the delay and poor picture quality; if I had realized that nobody beat me to the punch, I would have taken a better set of photos on my visit Friday.

I will also be posting pictures from my visit two days ago, including a few of the new Tasmanian Devil exhibit in the Children's Zoo.

The new grizzly habitat will be home to a brother-sister pair of orphaned bears. Until the exhibit is done, they will be housed at ZooMontana.
Two orphaned grizzly bear cubs are coming to Saint Louis in 2017! The cubs will call the new Grizzly Ridge home upon completion of the new bear habitat mid-year. Until their arrival, ZooMontana will care for the bears.

ZooMontana's care team selected potential male names for one bear, while the Saint Louis Zoo care team chose female names for his his sibling. Montanans are are asked to vote for the name of the male bear and St. Louisans for the female.

From now through 11:59 p.m., October 6, 2016, you can vote for your favorite name:

The five male names from ZooMontana staff are: Glacier, Huckleberry (Huck), Kootenai, Rocky, and Roscoe.

The five female names from Saint Louis Zoo staff are: Finley, Helena, Skye, Ursula, and Wynn.

Visit stlzoo.org/grizzlycubs to vote!

Votes will be tallied and winning names revealed on October 7.

After about 13,700 votes, the bears are named Huckleberry and Finley. They were rescued in Montana in July and will move to SLZ mid-2017.
