Hi all,

I'm just trawling through my old notes and records trying get them as accurate as I can.

One odd spot of vagueness I've got relates to sheep and goats at San Diego Zoo, where there's several species where I'm not sure of the exact taxonomy of the individuals I'd have seen, so I think I may have some listed wrongly.

Does anyone know what species/subspecies of the following were on show at San Diego Zoo (not the WAP) in 1998?

- Goral
- Urial
- Snow Sheep (I think I know this one but I'd like confirmation)

Thanks in advance!

At that point Dog and Cat Canyon would have had:

Rocky Mountain Goat
Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep
Dall's Sheep
Kamchatkan Snow Sheep
Central Chinese Goral
Japanese Serow

Elsewhere in the zoo possibly (iffy on the dates):
East Caucasian Tur
Bharal

I only recall the Transcaspian Urial being at the WAP during this period

Thanks - confirms my suspicions re: gorals and snow sheep. (Would Kamchatkan be O. n. nivcola? I think so..).

There certainly were Bharal and East Caucasian Turs there as well.

There were definitely urials at the Zoo (I only managed photos of ibex and tahr Caprinae-wise at the WAP, and these records are based on notes taken to accompany photos and taken from the exhibit labels, just not very precisely!). Maybe some refugees passing through? Have SD only had Transcapian?
