What were the taxidermy displays like here? Any rare taxidermy species?
Mostly native California species with a few oddballs. Really cool collection but I didn’t have a list of the taxidermy that they kept. However I do recommend going without a doubt. Really awesome facility. With the Go-Pass you can absolutely get your moneys worth by doing a ton of the museums in Balboa in a single day.

Are these alive or taxidermy displays? I haven't been here before so just wondering. Do you think this museum is better than the LA Nat. Hist. Museum (if you've been there before)? Thats my local museum. It sounds like its worth checking out.

The museum is very good, but much smaller than the LA Natural History Museum. They have great exhibits about the ecosystems and paleontology of California. You could probably see the museum in a morning or afternoon.
