I still find it fascinating it managed to hide in this area this long...much political activity in Laos and Vietnam during 20th century but wasn't seen until the 1990s

One is conveniently omitting the full scale Agent Orange shitstorms of the 60's and 70's that destroyed the best parts of ... and continue to impact the Vietnam and whole IndoChina natural environment into the present and with it went a whole set of species rare and threatened and unbeknownest and opening up the rainforests to full scale ransacking of its - what was left - biodiverse richness and being an important enabling factor in the ensueing poaching and illegal trapping activities. BTW: All of that WAS very political.
