Sea Dragons in Europe

Just wanted a little more info on what institutions are holding (and trying to breed?) Leafy and or Weedy Seadragons in Europe...

Since Zootierliste doesn't stretch to "smaller fish" and ISIS is inaccurate (i think, since it only lists Lisboa aquarium) I have no real clue who holds them. Saw both species at Barcelona Aquarium in 2007 and only saw an empty exhibit at Cologne in 2008... Also found a breeding attempt at Stuttgart in the 90's. So I come to this list...

Leafy Seadragon
- Barcelona Aquarium

Weedy Seadragon
- Barcelona Aquarium
- Lisboa Aquarium?
- Stuttgart Zoo?
- Cologne Zoo?

Anyone anything to add?

Breeding also seems tough. There's like 35 sites reporting the weedy sea dragon is holding on to eggs in Georgia Aquarium but no site ever cared to report what happened to them... Does anyone know?

There is only one place in Australia that breeds them and has permits to collect pregnant females in limited numbers, they are also allowed to export to overseas zoos & Aquariums, I think they are in South Australia.

L' Oceanografic Valencia have leafy Seadragons too, I posted pics at the gallery.

There is a third species iof Seadragons kept in europe,"Ribboned Seadragons".I've saw them in march at Berlin Aquarium and Berlin Sealife.

Frankfurt zoo has kept Weady Seadragons in the 90ties but very much long.

As far as I know, the aquarium of the Pacific is breeding Weady Seadragons. The Georgia Aquarium aquired some of them.

technically ribboned sea dragons aren't true sea dragons, they are large pipefish. There are several species of large pipefish in Australasia called 'sea dragons' because they are superficially similar to the true sea dragons

Is it not the males which are "pregnant"?
