Has anyone seen the new Blackpool Sealion Enclosure ?

Looks good by the pictures do people think this is now the best in the UK ?

Is it complete yet, and if so can I see pictures please in the gallery, no rush if no ones got any plans to visit though.

The enclosure has been given a facelift and it now looks very good, but the basic size and shape are unchanged - although it's still one of the largest in the country (I haven't seen them all). Most of the viewing is now through glass.

Which Zoo's in the country have them, as the major ones I knew of have gone...

Chessington, Knowlsley, Flamingoland, National Seal Sanc., Longleat, West Midlands....there are quite a few others but I can't remember off hand. I think a while back we counted around 18. Some zoos have recently got rid of them though, like Woburn. :(

Gweek has a couple of S. African fur seals, I think the ones that used to be at Combe Martin.

Banham's group of Fur Seals have recently produced a pup.

Indeed. A little girl. The group now consists of Dad 'Ben', Mum 'Xena', Two year old male 'Moley' and almost four week old pup which remains unnamed as of yet.

I think Woburn's animals may still be at Woburn due to problems exporting...;)
