Where is it located within the park?

according to [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_former_Sea_World_attractions]List of former Sea World attractions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] the Penguin Encounter covers the areas formerly occupied by Sea World Aquarium and Shark Attack (the latter was the replacement for the dugong exhibit when they moved to Sydney)

*Sea World Aquarium (????—2010) - a circular building filled with several small individual aquariums which represented a variety of habitats. The aquarium closed to make was for Penguin Encounter
*Shark Attack (2009—2010) - an educational exhibit which aimed to teach guests the truth about sharks. It replaced Dugong Discovery and was replaced by Penguin Encounter

*Water roller coaster - in January 2008, plans for a water roller coaster were released by the Gold Coast City Council. The proposal detailed the ride would have a station where Penguin Encounter exists and the main track out and over the car park

I'm assuming those localities will make sense to people who have been there

The exhibit looks great with all the ice and the underwater viewing also looks like it is very good.

I believe all the Penguins came from Kellys Tarltons Underwater World in NZ.

Their website says they have around 80 Penguins which appear to be breeding well

If i remember correctly, the Aquarium and Shark Attack were just inside and to the left of the main entrance. It was closed when I was there in June for renovations. Now I know what for.

I just had a look at the map on their website and its labelled down in the bottom left corner (so left of the main entrance), although I swear it wasn't there when I looked yesterday

Thanks. I was wondering what was happening to the theatre tank. I remember going there years ago and you would sit in a movie theatre and watch a short doco about sharks and then the screen would open up and there was a massive window with groupers and grey nurses.
