This free zoo is located north of San Francisco and is only 5 acres in size. However, due to the economic recession there is the possibility that this 102-year-old establishment might begin to start charging admission.

An opinion piece on the future of the zoo. Can it survive the economic recession? Will the 20-year plan be attainable?

HI matey and welcome. You may want to start at the thread that lets you describe your name. Yours looks interesting

I don't know but ASDM used to keep gray fox with their black bears.

"Watershed Heroes" is projected to be finished in October 2013, and it will feature new habitats for river otters, salmon and bald eagles. Conceptual art for the exhibit:

Another "possible" zoo visit in the near future. That's "if" my family takes a proposed Northern California roadtrip this summer that would also take us into Southern Oregon. I had tentative plans to visit Alaska, but my son, who would have been visiting a very sick young lady up there at my expense, decided he won't be needing to take that trip. I was planning to see Alaska Zoo.

I'm hoping to visit the Oakland Zoo, as well as Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Sequoia Park, but so many of my planned trips have fallen through in the last year nothing is definite. Other "possible" trips could include visits to zoos in Kansas City, Minnesota and St. Paul, Fresno, and Honolulu. I'm ready to experience more places(zoos) I've never visited before.

As you can now see on their official website, "free" zoo is a thing of the past. :(
