Does any one know what species are held at Shadow Nursery?

I have heard in a couple threads and looking at their website what they have.

Kulan
Brazilian Tapir
Water Buffalo
Bearded Pigs
Ring Tailed Lemur

Does anyone know why San Diego likes to give their surplus to them?

Thanks

I think Don has more than this. I remember ostriches when I was there some years ago. I think he used to list his collection in his plant catalogue.

When did you go to Shadow Nursery? How did you get in because I want to so bad! I'll even fly from California just to go there

Call and ask him
Remember, it is a commercial plant nursery, not a public zoo, so respect that they have a business to run.

I've known Don for many years and have bought plants there.

Great find! I was surprised to see his Kulan (maybe Persian Onager) herd. So I'm guessing Don is pretty wealthy, to have all those animals.

They also seem to have European Bison, Nubian Wild Ass, Mongolian Wild Ass (not Persian), Nilgai, Capybara, Bornean Bearded Pigs, Gayal, Manchurian Sika Deer, Greater Rhea, Stanley Crane, Double-Wattled Cassowary, Bactrian Camel, Red-Necked Wallaby, African Crested Porcupine, Mandarin Sika Deer, Burchell's Zebra, Cretan Wild Goat, Brazilian Tapir, Peruvian Alpaca, Florida Sandhill Crane, Sambar Deer, Vietnamese Sika Deer, Central American Red Brocket, Pere David's Deer, Sacred Ibis, Scottish Highland Cattle, Yak, Roe Deer, Altai Wapiti, Llama, Blesbok, Ankole Cattle, Belted Galloway Cattle, Axis Deer, Chinese Water Deer, Hog Deer, Javan Bateng, Longhorn Cattle, Western Tufted Deer, European Wild Boar, White-Naped Crane, Miniature Zebu, Cotton-Top Tamarn (listed as Tufted Marmoset), Ostrich, Guanaco, East African Crowned Crane, Poitou Donkey, Zonkey, Moufflon Sheep, Red River Hog, Przewalski's Wild Horse, Collared Peccary, Grevy's Zebra, and Water Buffalo.

Wow that's an amazing and seemingly little known collection! Did jedidiscuits ever go?
