Shark husbandry

Those are some good links Sun, and I've often read about the great white sharks that have been kept at the excellent Monterey Bay Aquarium. I suppose that white sharks in aquariums are the equivalent of giant pandas in zoos, as Monterey has seen a massive upsurge in attendance whenever they've obtained one for its Outer Bay tank.

Also, it is noteworthy and a little sad that the longest living whale shark in captivity has been only 10 years. No one seems to know a definitive answer, but there is much speculation that the species can live at least 80 years or more in the wild.

I think visitor attendance was created by media hype, not because people by themselves would find great white shark more special than other shark.

Anyway, as long as aquariums educate people as much as Monterey, it is a good stuff.

Very interesting links, Sun.

You seem to be good at unearthing interesting, off-beat websites!
(Maybe you're a detective by profession! :D )

@Ara: You're welcome. About the detective profession: well, maybe part of it. However, my "culprits" are usually very small and hard to arrest...;)
