Slide collection

Like most zoo enthusiasts I have a very large personal collection of photographs ( in this case over 7000 slides ) taken in various zoos around the world over the past 30 years. I am starting to wonder what provision can be made for them when I die as I hate the thought of them being binned or ending up in a charity or second-hand store. Many show exhibits and even whole zoos that no longer exist. Are there any photographic libraries that would be interested in such a specialist subject ?
Suggestions please.

This sounds like something which could find a useful home with the Bartlett Society, which is concerned with zoo history. Their website is a bit tired, but is currently being reborn. Meanwhile, information can be found on Zoo History. They're a good bunch.

I think that what bothers people are:
  • asinine comments and posts made for the sake of it, rather than because you actually have anything germane to say
  • pointless photos which serve to clog up the galleries
  • spelling and grammar which are so poor as to suggest either extreme laziness or virtual illiteracy

Sooty mangabey - Hey its cool man. No I wasn't saying it was bad to put any photos on here. I have defiantly learned it is smart to only put photos ppl want to see on here. That makes total since. Its cool.

My post did make sense. I don't know y u would ask that???

Dude this site about zoos so y give a crap whether you like my english or not. I don't really care on here.

I thought you had decided you were retiring from this site? Maybe you should re-evaluate your decision to return?

Please keep your pompous and overbearing rubbish to yourself and give the younger members a break.

Sorry Bonxie, I wish you well in finding a use/home for your collection.

Cheers, didn't expect it to cause a spat between you two. Quite amusing though !! Fossadude - too many photos to pick favourites I'm afraid but I suppose the really rare species eg Pygmy Hog, Jentink's duiker, Kagu etc etc would be the ones.

Bonxie - Spats r very common on here. You may find one coming your way if you share your Opinion about things. ;)

That is amazing. I would love to see a pygmy hog. What Zoo where you at. Have you ever thought about putting some on a site. Maybe a museum if you have like a complete collection of a bunch of zoos, path by path.

Bonxie -- what about putting slides of bygone British Zoos on this site? I for one would be enthralled. As for a permanent home for the slides, the Bartlett Society must be the place to ask.

The Pygmy Hogs were at Zurich in 1982. Destined for Jersey the project died when the breeding female died leaving a male and three male young who all , I guess, lived out their lives at Zurich.
