Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn is a great example of this- I was blown away by just how gorgeous the grounds were, with many beautiful old buildings, bright open spaces, etc., Central Park Zoo is also quite beautiful, but something about Prospect Park makes it perhaps top the list of beautiful zoos I've visited.
