Was Cleopatra poisoned though? I thought she committed suicide by allowing herself to be bitten by an asp. I don't understand the closing sentence of the article.

I found that confusing too. I assume they meant that she died of snake venom.

I think it's more the journalist thinking he knew how how Cleopatra died but not bothering to check.

I also assume that when American TV presenters say "I rack" and "I ran" that they are referring to the Mesopotamian countries.
