Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a facility in Holderness, New Hampshire, and is the only facility accredited by the AZA in northern New England. Squam Lakes Natural Science Center holds native and extirpated species such as American mink, fisher, grey wolf, cougar, American black bear, North American river otter, white-footed mouse, broad-winged hawk, red-shouldered hawk, bald eagle, great horned owl, grey tree frog, spotted turtle, and brook trout, among other species.

On May 25th, 2022, it was announced that the nature center acquired a (0.1) North American river otter named Minnow from the Pueblo Zoo in Colorado.

On August 3rd, the science center announced that Minnow is now on exhibit.

On September 1st, it was announced that the facility lost its AZA accreditation. They have 30 days to repeal.

Any idea as to on what grounds?! I've always been very impressed by this facility, but it has been at least five years since my last visit so things may have changed. Frankly, I've been more impressed by this facility than a lot of other AZA facilities who have gotten re-accredited, either this cycle or other recent cycles.

They don't mention on what grounds, but I'm guessing the center will respond in the next 30 days.
