The year of 2007-2008 was a baby boom for sumatran tigers in our region with five cubs born in 2007:

Dreamworld: Indah (F) and Rahni (F)
Australia Zoo: Kaitlyn (F), Maneki (F) and Bashi (M)

and ten cubs born in 2008:

Dreamworld: Jaya (F), Ndari (F) and Shanti (F)
Auckland Zoo: Jalur (M), Berani (M) and Cinta (F)
Perth Zoo: Sali (F) and Satri (M), Jaya (M) and Melati (F)

14 of these 15 cubs are still surviving and doing well and it will be interesting to see what pairings are made for these cubs as they reach sexaul maturity. The most genetically valable cubs are the five female cubs born at Dreamworld and the three cubs at Australia Zoo. There were a further seven cubs born in 2010.

It should be noted that Bashi, Maneki and Kaitlyn were not born in Australia. They are probably the most valuable tigers genetically in a western zoo. Australia Zoo will need additional Sumatran Tigers before they can breed, if the manage to breed at all. Although Bengals breed well when handraised Sumatrans don't apear to be as easy.
