Bawa's father was born at Berlin Zoo in 2002. His brother is the ex Chessington male who is now back in Germany

Does anyone know how Thrigby came to breed hybrids? ISIS has listed a female Sumatran and a hybrid female, another thread suggests the Sumatran female came to Thrigby in 2005. I am pretty sure Thrigby has only ever held what they thought were Sumatrans, I would suggest the animals at Welsh mountain zoo and elsewhere are 75% Sumatran.

Did the original Paignton 'Sumatrans' come from Thrigby? I know they were sent to another collection as soon as it was realised they were hybrids, would this be Shepreth, or are the Welsh Mountain Zoo tigers those that Paignton discarded?

Paignton's 1997/98 Annual Report states that Kali and Suma were found to be hybrids - 75% Sumatran:25% Indochinese. Their father at Thrigby Hall was imported from Sumatra in good faith but karyotyping confirmed that he was the product of subspecific hybridisation. They went to Drayton Manor in 2002.

I assume the male at Thrigby is an elderly animal who is their father. Can anyone shed any light on this?

The current female Sumatran is from the 2004 Dublin litter. As you said she was moved to Thrigby in 2005

The tigers at Welsh Mountain are hybrid Sumatran's from Thrigby

So Thrigby-born hybrids are the animals living at Drayton manor and the Welsh Mountain zoo.

I am assuming the female that went to Thrigby from Dublin is well-represented as, if ISIS are correct, Thrigby actually hold 0.2 (a hybrid female and the Sumatran female). I would guess that the hybrid is a sibling of either the Drayton Manor or the Welsh Mountain Zoo animals.

I remember construction of the original tiger enclosure (before it was extended) at Thrigby. I seem to remember two very young tigers in a quarantine cage nearby while this was being built. This was around 1989. Does anyone know whether Thrigby has ever produced pure Sumatran tiger cubs, or have they always had hybrids?
