Sunbear/Tiger Breeding at Wellington Zoo

Does anybody know what the plan is for New Zealand's only sunbear, Sasa from Wellington Zoo ?.

Also any word on how Bashi/Senja the Sumatran Tiger's are getting along ?.

I don't believe they have any breeding plans for Sasa. There has been a lack of interest in this species in Australasia lately with zoos phasing them out; or holding non breeding animals.

The world's slowest tiger introduction is currently being conducted between Bashi and Senja. It started in 2017 and last I heard, they still haven't physically met (only seen each other through the mesh).

Sunbears are the latest exotic species for the ZAA to give up on. The zoos seemed surprised that a species known for being difficult to breed in captivity with status quo zoo exhibits and husbandry failed to breed in when they provided them with status quo exhibits and husbandry.

Meanwhile they decided to try their hand at leopards, a species that had barely just been phased out of the regions zoos.

It'd be laughable but for the fact that sunbears are a threatened species with no stable, reproducing population in captivity.
