Australia Sydney Meetup: 24th July, 2011 - Sydney Wildlife World

Since Sydney Wildlife World is about to be "castrated", I think we should have another meetup as soon as possible before the closure/changes are made.

First up, we need to know exactly when SWW will close for it's re-modelling. Does anyone have any details about this?

Next, we need to choose a suitable date prior to then (probably within a couple of weeks from now).

Finally, we need to decide whether we would like to also do Sydney Aquarium at the same time on a combined-ticket?
 
SWW closes on July 25th, so we should get meet on Sunday 24th. If we meet at 10 am we should have time to do both SWW and the Aquarium (although it will probably take several hours!)

So who's in?

At this stage it looks like it's just Sim, nrg800 and myself. Gryphon might be able to make it, pending other committments.

Um, so sorry guys. It appears work has started early at SWW. It is still open (from what I can ascertain), but they have started the ruiniation process. I'll check tomorrow what is going on. So sorry.

I did see a note on their website that the butterfly house would be closed from the 18th of July.
 
Yes, that part is definitely out, as is the Lizard Lounge, but I'll check tomorrow how the rest of it looks.
 
Worst comes to worst, we can visit what's left, then hit the aquarium. At least in the city there are a few options.

Just as a warning... you may want to do the Aquarium first and then SWW. Lunch and after on a Sunday it can get pretty crammed in at the Aquarium.
 
Hi Sim, I may be joining you. I might skip SWW and join you for the aquarium, depending on what time you will be there.
 
We might take your advice and do the aquarium first, I think.

Thanks everyone - I had a great day yesterday. It was also fantastic to meet Gryphon too - I hope you managed to get your presentation finished last night!

After all my talk of late nights, I went to bed at 8:30pm and slept 11 hours!
 
Was great meeting everyone and chatting zoos, animals and other interesting topics :) Looking forward to the next meetup.
 
I had a really good time too! It was good to catch up with Gryphon again after all these years,
