Tabang Zoo is a small zoo located in Kutai Kartanegara in East Kalimantan, on the island of Borneo. The 5 hectare zoo is owned and operated by Bayan Resources, a coal mining conglomerate in Indonesia. Established by Low Tuck Kwong, the owner of Bayan Resources, on the basis of being an animal lover, the zoo was first build on 2009 in it's original land at Muara Tae, later moved to the current location of Tabang in 2017.

The zoo claimed that they took interest in wildlife conservation, adding that around 80% of their collection are government-protected native Bornean wildlife. Interestingly, in 2023, the zoo is awarded by MURI (Indonesian World Record Museum) of having the most albino animals with 28 species in Indonesia.

Laksamana Sada, a YouTube channel owned by one of the zoo's staff, regularly make videos on the largely-vertebrate collection of the zoo. I'll be listing them in Zootierliste (Which already have a list for Tabang Zoo but is still empty). Notable collection include an Bornean clouded leopard, confiscated from a private owner in Samarinda on 2023, and likely the first public holder of tamandua in Indonesia.

On March 4, two pairs of cheetah (two male, two female), has arrived in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport near Jakarta. After medical examination and other inspection, atleast three of the cheetah will be sent to Tabang.

No country of origin are given, but they're likely came from South Africa, a country with a large exotic pet/zoo supplying industry and have history of exports to Indonesian private collectors and even zoos.

#LaporKarantina #Citah #KarantinaKaltim #KUAT"

Surprisingly, Tabang Zoo now has a megatank containing Arapaima, red-tailed catfish, golden dorado, Asian arowana, peacock bass, and others. They also have an Arctic foxes.

It is quite surprising that this zoo can have hyacinth macaw and scarlet ibis. It is difficult for zoos outside Java to have these animals.
Bali (Bird Park) technicaly had them first. If you have the money, you can get a hundreds of those even if you're in the middle of Siberia.

2:30 To make sure if it's really a cross between a horse and a zebra or not.
They have a zonkey, which were what introduced me to this facility a few years ago.

Context for non-Indonesian readers, A MURI Record functions similarly to a Guiness World Record, but local to Indonesia. This award is for most albino animal species held within a zoo (28)

Not too impressive now, considering how many albino morphs are available in the pet trade and for trade between zoos. You could probably get up to 28 with aquatics alone.

Not complaining about the wealth of information though, keep these coming @Jonathan Harry !

I saw an African Sharptooth Catfish and Phoenix Barb in the megatank. The latter is a first for Indonesian zoos.
