To all ZooChat residents in the Greater Los Angeles area, the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History is looking for lizards (and all other reptiles) in your neighborhood. On May 22ND, there will be a lizard hunt, and they will be asking for photo submissions taken of reptile residents near you. I'll be participating. They are also doing a search for lizards in their very own surroundings of Exposition Park, which seem to be curiously absent there, though very common in many other L.A. communities. Here are the details:

To all of you living in Los Angeles County like myself, it's not too late to participate. I just submitted my findings (photo and habitat info), observed right on my front patio; a Western Fence Lizard. But you can search anywhere in L.A. County. Just use the link to the County Museum of Natural History under Community Science to learn more. Community Science | Natural History Museum of Los Angeles

Success! Staff and volunteers of the California Science Center, after conducting a search on May 22, report finding 2 Western Fence Lizards in Exposition Park. The first lizards seen there since 1988. Exposition Park is home to the California Science Center and Imax Theater, Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, California African-American Museum, Memorial Coliseum and Sports Arena. They are also conducting a survey of lizards from all across Los Angeles County, in which I've already participated. It's still not too late for all ZooChatters residing in L.A. County to take part. They should be posting results and photos from participants soon.
