This looks like a silly season story, but I believe it. A shrimp has been discovered in the tanks at the Horniman Museum in London. Its origin is unknown, but it is thought to have arrived about 12 years ago in a rock - presumably a ''living rock' imported from a reef, which aquarists use to introduce bacteria, algae and invertebrates like worms and polyps to reef aquariums. New species of shrimp found after ‘hitchhiking’ on ocean rock to south London museum
The shrimp seems to reproduce well in the aquarium, which may interest aquarists seeking to culture live foods for fussy species like mandarins, pipefishes and seahorses.
