National Aquarium in Baltimore The National Aquarium Celebrates its' 30th Anniversary

Congratulations to this very fine aquarium and asset to its city! I will be sure to visit next time I am there, it is easy to recommend!

I was just there yesterday! Had a great time and Australis: Wild Extremes is one of my favorite exhibits in both aquariums and zoos! My favorite aquarium as well with Shedd, Long Beach, and Adventure Aquarium being the other contenders.

Wow! Has it been 30 years? I remember the opening (I lived in Baltimore then)... the lines to get in went on forever, all summer long

Here is the architectural concept plan for the National Aquarium's Center for Aquatic Life and Conservation. Construction on Phase I has begun and will be complete by the spring. Phase I includes cleaning up the site (it used to be a city garage, so there is a ton of ground pollution) re-stabilizing the shoreline with native grasses and reeds, and planting and laying out the water front park. Construction of the Conservation Center is still a TBD until funds can be secured.

I've been to the Aquarium last year, its my absolute favourite aquarium in the States, and it is defenitely the best aquarium in the USA, because of the high standard care of animals and exhibits. Not even the japanese aquariums, and I've seen a lot them in this summer, are as good as the National Aquarium.

Do you know, if they will publish a new guidebook for the Anniversary ?

The National Aquarium hasn't published a guidebook for years. Now visitors recieve a visitor guide that includes a map, feeding times, and basic builidng information. Guidebooks are expensive to publish, even if there is the option to buy them.

This could make Baltimore the best in the country, if this new part is as well made as the rest of the aquarium.
