In May 2017 the Otter Trust is set to reopen their site to the public as a centre focusing on native wildlife and rare breeds. As well as a free riverside walk and heritage farm, a variety of native animals will be kept including pine martens, golden eagles, pool frogs, red squirrels (housed on an island), common crane, white stork and spoonbill (viewed from a cart ride) and a variety of other birds. Shorelands Wildlife Gardens are donating their entire collection of native ducks, geese, swans, common quail and turtle doves to stock the facility.

I think this is good news. It's a small but beautiful site which I remember well in its previous incarnation. I particularly recall a very nice day combining a visit to the Otter Trust with a walk around Redgrave and Lopham Fen nature reserve, where I did not see any Dolomedes spiders, but got good views of pike, snipe and several species of dragonflies.
 
Animals starting to arrive.

We have started moving some of our native animals across to the Otter Trusts, Earsham Wetland Centre. Over the coming weeks we will be sending Turtle Doves, Crossbills, Common Quail, Eurasian Crane, White Storks, Sandhill Crane, Red Squirrels and a variety of waterfowl to add to the Bewicks & Whooper Swans and Pink-footed Geese that we have already moved. The centre will open on the 3rd June, more details to follow soon....
