The Palms Tropical Oasis has recently added this statement to their website:

Bugs of Fun, Palms Tropical Oasis - Days Out Kids, Things to do Children, Zoo, Animal Attraction, Cheshire, Stoke on Trent, Manchester

"Opening 22nd October, 5-9PM - FREE ADMISSION THIS NIGHT ONLY"

"DUE TO THE 8-12 MONTH DELAY ON PLANS FOR RE-DEVELOPMENT OF THE PALMS BUILDING WE WILL BE RE-OPENING WITH AN EXCITING RANGE OF EXHIBITS PLUS A FEW OLD FAVOURITES INCLUDING THE POPULAR MEERKAT FAMILY. A REDUCED ADMISSION CHARGE MAKES THIS ATTRACTION VALUE FOR MONEY FOR ALL THE FAMILY."

I am certainly going to pay the Palms another visit during this time! Thanks for the News Nisha!

Taken from the Stapley Water Gardens Website as an update:

"The Palms Tropical Oasis at Stapeley Water Gardens will cease trading on Sunday 5th September 2010. This is due to recent planning applications being passed by Cheshire East Council.
The Palms Tropical Oasis is home to many tropical animals, all of which will be guaranteed new homes at zoo’s around the country. The Palms’ qualified zoo keepers are working hard with EAZA and Cheshire East Council to re home all animals. The welfare of the animals is of paramount importance to all members of staff at The Palms.
The relocation of the new Garden Centre is brilliant news for Nantwich. Due to the continued decline in visitor numbers at the Palms Tropical Oasis, the sale of the land was the only viable solution in the current economic climate. The building of a new Garden Centre will hopefully provide Nantwich with a successful and thriving leisure industry."

Just as a follow up - the local free paper is carrying a story about the Blue Planet Aquarium being the new Home for the Surinam Toad (s) and the Malawi Ciclids from this collection being rehomed there! All good news..

The way I read it is that as Paix says it is re-opening, because of the delay in planning permission for the site.

That's possible - but the main interest is that the exhibits are being rehomed elsewhere already so if they re-open will they have anything to exhibit?
