I just thought this thread would be beneficial to our zoo community. I'm sure many working in institutions throughout the world are already on the alert, but for those considering a career in exotic animal husbandry, this is a heads up to take into consideration.

I got tested once for TB as a squirrel monkey died from it!

While I was taking the zookeepers course at the Los Angeles Zoo, back in the 1980s, it was always a policy to have any potential new primate keeper to be TB tested. Especially those working in their Marmoset Colony. They were also on the alert for cold sores. I'm sure this is still the policy.
