Great news!

Happy New Year! I have a feeling that 2009 WILL be a better year than 2008. It started off great this morning... Danyelle Lantz, the Zoo Northwest Florida executive director, sent a welcome message: "We want to assure you that there are no plans to move Indah or her mother, Sara."

Lantz tells me that the zoo was a victim of misunderstandings and malicious rumors. I could present some arguments against those observations, but today is too beautiful to engage in the "he said, she said" of human communications. I'd rather celebrate a united orangutan mother and daughter.

Thanks Danyelle, for starting the year off with a bang! It was wonderful to hear that the orangutan mother and daughter will be together, per sound animal management and humane treatment.

I must say that I am a bit sad and surprised about the fact that three forumsters actually voted for the option that "The zoo should go ahead and sell the 3 year old to whoever they want " in this poll...
