Tiger habitat threatened – please help

Lohara-Junona is a 17.5 sq. km reserve forest adjoining Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, central India. It is one of a shrinking number of forests in India that still contain tigers, as well as other magnificent wildlife such as gaurs, leopards, sloth bears, sambar and chital deer. It falls just under the 10 km buffer zone of Tadoba Tiger Reserve, and serves as a vital corridor linking Tadoba Tiger Reserve to another block of forests further south in Chandrapur district.

Lohara-Junona RF is under threat. A coal mining lease, proposed by Adani Power Limited, is awaiting clearance by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. It is to be one of the biggest opencast coalmines in India, and a project that will destroy this prime wildlife habitat and sever the link between TATR and the forests further south, increasingly isolating the Tiger Reserve.

Please help.
