Blackpool Zoo Timber goes from Blackpool to Folly Farm!

I think we can now declare this week Giraffe move round week! with 5 individuals moving round 3 British zoo's. Tomorrow Colchester's new male Reticulated arrives from Nuremburg Zoo. Cotswold's will then receive the 2:0 surplus Giraffe from Colchester and another 1:0 from Blair Drummond later in the week. On Saturday 5th June 18 month old male Timber is leaving Blackpool for the batchlour herd at Folly Farm in Wales.

I was thinking this last night, how do they move a giraffe, what sort of lorry do they use ?

They use basically a heightened horse box type lorry. There are some pics in the Colchester Zoo gallery or Koife's move to Cotswold Wildlife Park.

They use a converted horse box with a raised roof. Below is the link to a photo of the trailer that was used to move Timber and the two boys from Colchester to Cotswold's Wildlife Park that week.
