A new post to give you some News about French zoos.

As you know most of the zoo in your country are private zoo that have their own publicity policy which came be resumed as “Every year something news”.

You will find here a small tour of zoos news for 2012

Zoo Amnéville : will keep first a bachelor group of gorilla those animal would be presented in 3 different enclosure. A reproductive group may also be welcome. Some meerkat; flamingos and spoted nosed monkey (species to confirm) must also be added to this new build that the opening would happen on April. 3 white rhinos (1.2) arrived in Amneville on Thursday, coming from south Africa.

Zoo Beauval : As everybody know, a couple of giant panda arrived in France and would be presented to public end of February, the date had been retarded due to weather. The big cat enclosure will also get a new design.

Zoo Le Pal : two new Asian enclosure has been growth for tiger and Asian lion. Those species that was also present in the park before will get a new enclosure far from the roller coaster area.

Zoo La Boissière : a new bird show with bird of prey and reptile presentation will opened this year. The park gets also 2 white rhino female for its male arriving last year. This female arrived by the same plane as Amneville rhinos.

Zoo La Barben : this zoo located near Marseilles will present on 2012, Somali wild ass; white faced saki and great Indian hornbill.

Zoo Doué la Fontaine : the cap penguin will be transferred in the big south American aviaries.

Zoo La Flèche : Nosy Komba is a new contact enclosure were visitors can meet 3 (common) lemur species.

Zoo Bordereaux Pessac: the brother of La Flèche welcome this year a new carnivores, the cheetah

Zoo Cerza : red panda will arrived in the park

Parc des oiseaux : more than 300 rainbow lorikeet will free fly in a big aviaries. Parma wallabies will also be welcome in the zoo.

Thank you very much for your infos, Johan
Specially the news from Amnéville are very interesting for me, because it's on my "to visit" schedule for Easter (jours de paques).

Maybe you (or another french member) can help me out with a question about tickets for Zoo Amnéville: I have heart, that there are discounted entry tickets available at the Leclerc Supermarket (grand magazin). Is this true? And if so: What I have to do to get those discount tickets?

Johan- thanks for the very comprehensive round-up of new developments in the major Zoos in France. Very interesting and helpful and if you could update occassionally it would be excellent. English is fine too

@zoomaniac : the gorilla exhibit will opened on 6 April. For the ticket, I think you just have to go in the Auchan (Metz) or in the Leclerc (Maizières les Metz), on the ticket stand in the gallery.
I asked, last year for ticket in Cora (Strasbourg), and I had win about 1 or 2 €. It's sure admission fees in Amneville are quiet expensive about 28 to 30 €/adult (to confirm)

Some other news for 2012 in France

Zoo d’Asson : this small familial park will welcome wild guinea pig. The oldest enclosure would also be renewed and their occupant would be transferred in other part of the zoo in the way to recreated geographical area.

Safari de Peaugres : a new glasshouse will welcome the reptiles of the park that are for the moment keep under the castle of the zoo.

Zoo des Sables d’Olonne : For 2012 Australian is honored with an Australian aviaries (I don’t kow which species will be presented)

Zoo La Bourbansais : After 3 new south American aviaries opened in 2011 in French zoos, the parc de La Bourbansais will opened this year its own structure with Red ibis; roseate spoonbill …

Touroparc : last year a new vivarium had opened its door and presented a lot of snake species. The vivarium will be enlarging to welcome lizard as the Komodo monitoring.

Zoo de Tregomeur : another aviaries will opened in this zoo to keep Chinese bird species.

Spaycif zoo : this park presented a lot of species that are uncommon in French collection but also in European zoos. This year, it will present long nose potoroos; black and white lemur and Koi fish.

Parc des félins: the French park specialized in the breeding of carnivores will increase its collection with Asiatic lion (even the park is still keeping African lion yet). The zoo may welcome some black footed cat.

Zoo Mulhouse : The zoo will inaugurate an Australian enclosure with red kangaroos, birds but also yellow foot wallabies. The zoo will also keep the EEP for this species. It is to noted that Benoit Quintard the new vet in Mulhouse, was in 2008, the vet of Bensaçon that import those animals form LA.
