that idea has been discussed over a few threads though i'm not sure if theres a thread devoted to the subject. i dont think there is but i could quite easily be wrong:confused:

If you still want to know anything about Trotters let me know!

What happend to the 2nd male Red Panda? I know Trotters had 2 males from Chester not long ago and now there's only 1 left? Did the 2nd male die or was he moved on? If so where did he go to?
Thanks

Red Pandas

Hi

The other male (Ming Ming) has moved to Birmingham Nature Reserve in order to be make up a breeding pair, this was a move inline with the stud book.

DooDoo, the one left at Trotters will hopefully have a new mate soon but he is very happy and gets a lot of attention and environmental enrichment from his keeper.

But yes both are healthy!

If you still want to know anything about Trotters let me know!

can you tell me some data on the Mandrills please- sexes, names, relationships, birthplaces and total number. (I know the original group came from Southport).

Trotters Mandrills

I do not know anything about the Mandrills to be fair. I know some other animals there came from Southport so its probably right that the Mandrills did too.
I can tell you that Charlie is the alpha male, and the group is mixed so males and females, and they are breeding but anything else I don't have access to sorry.

Trotters Species list is slightly out of date for anyone who is interested - there are no longer any Sitatunga, and the Squirrel Monkeys are the Common Squirrel Monkey.

In addition, this year they gained Skunks and Common Palm Civets.

There are now Ring Tailed Lemur and Brown Capuchin infants along with Canadian Lynx and Fishing Cat cubs.

Has anyone seen the enclosure that the fishing cats are held in?

I remember going years ago when they had just received a male (possibly one of the many animals they received when Southport closed). It was in this little cage with no more than a puddle of water. I assume that was just a holding cage until an exhibit for it could be built.

Re Fishing Cat enclosure

The Fishing Cat enclosure is pretty good, it has two sections to allow seperation of the cats and serves their purpose very well, with lots of hiding places.

The Fishing Cats both came from Port Lympne (or possibly Howletts) and they have bred - there are now 3 little ones on display with their mum.

If you went many years ago then the enclosure will be a new one.

Hope this helps!

Servals

Hi, yes they still have a pair of Servals at Trotters.

They had 2 youngsters but these have now been moved to another collection.

With the breeding of Servals, Canadian Lynx and Fishing cats it seems Trotters is getting to become quite good at breeding small cats.

Any idea what has happened to the Canadian Lynx kittens (or is it cubs:confused:) that were born there and appeared on Michaela's Roadtrip?

Trotters World of Animals

Mum Freya and her cub are on show at Trotters now, the cub is growing well and hopes are high for her.

The other two cubs, very sad to report, didn't make it past their first few weeks :o(

This is a first time litter for the parents, and for Trotters, so hopefully next year will see another litter.
