Managers at the Townsville Aquarium Reef Headquarters believe a planned turtle hospital is now a certainty.
Assistant director of communications Fred Nucifora says the financial support committed by Townsville businesses to the project has been overwhelming.
Mr Nucifora says while the commitments have not been turned into cash as yet, he is confident there will be a hospital in some form.
"One hundred per cent of any money donated to the turtle hospital will go to the rehabilitation of sick and injured marine turtles," he said.
"It does pay for some staff because sometimes it's around the clock care that these turtles require, so staff will be here at all hours of the night and all hours of the morning."
