The Shizuoka City is planning to build a new “Marine and Earth Museum” which is a marine culture facility set to be in the Hinode district.
However there is another project to build an aquarium planned in the same district. The aquarium, tentatively named ZooZooSea, is planned by Tsuyoshi Shirawa. Shirawa is an animal trader who owns iZoo and KawaZoo, along with many other ventures. The plan is to build an interactive aquarium featuring giant tortoises, crocodiles, fur seals, and penguins. Shirawa plans to display the largest flock of penguins to be displayed in Japan.
Meanwhile, the government’s “Marine and Earth Museum” still hasn’t started construction due to rising construction costs and unfinished negotiations. There is a possibility that the plan could be scrapped.
